Orleans

17 Oct

I don't think I've written about this yet, but if we went for coffee, I would probably bring it up.

Since we made the move to Saturday nights downtown, it's gone really well. There's been an attendance bump, we have more people involved in serving than we ever did before, there's a wonderful feeling of excitement and anticipation in what God is doing and has done. The facility is working well for us so far. There's been a couple of kinks with parking passes and with hall noise, but I think we've got a good handle on that.

Because it's gone well, I don't see us going back to a Sunday service downtown. It's a ghost town on Sunday mornings, and most of the people that live, study and work downtown are totally engaged in Saturday night services. They are hugging me and expressing how grateful they are and how easy it is to go to church now. I don't see us abandoning that and going to a Sunday morning downtown any time soon.

So, what do we do on Sunday mornings?

Well, right now, I'm resting and having some sweet family time, and Gen is out singing at different churches. It's been great for me!

But, there's something stirring in my heart for Orleans. Especially, because I see some great spiritual activity happening on my street. There's already 2 people who used to attend Calvary Chapels (one in Ft. Lauderdale, the other in Kelowna and Calgary) that live on my street. In addition to that, I've had the opportunity to talk about spiritual things more with my neighbors in the last couple of months than in all the years before combined.

Along with that, is the knowledge that about 5 churches or church plants have closed in Orleans in the last 4 years.

So, I'm watching and praying about Orleans. Would you pray with me? Pray that God would open a BIG door in Orleans. Pray that people would meet Jesus, pray that we would be led by the Spirit, pray that we would be on His plan rather than our plan. Pray that there would be a bunch of new churches started in Orleans.

    Andy,
We’re so thankful for the vision the Lord has given you for Ottawa, Orleans, and Canada. Even as we head back to the States (Lord willing, temporarily) we will be praying for you, your family, and the church, to all be on His plan! You are “all in!” His Kingdom is so exciting, it’s almost uncontainable!!
    Missing you and all already….Linda
