If we went for coffee, this is definitely what we would be talking about.
First, the gory details that all the girls want to know. Gen's water broke at 12:30am on Friday night / early Saturday morning. She had a couple of contractions after that and we called the midwife around 2am. She arrived around 3am, got all set up, but the contractions were still irregular, so we all went back to sleep around 4am. At around 6:15am, we all got up, the contractions were regular, getting closer together and more intense. My kids got all packed up to go for the day at Gen's dad's house. I made omelettes for everyone, the second midwife arrived and the labor continued. She started pushing around 10:30am on Saturday and we had a beautiful baby girl 12 minutes later. All at home.
Sarah Josephine was 9lbs 15oz by the time they weighed her an hour after birth. She passed all her inspections with flying colors, and 4 days later is eating and pooping and sleeping as well as can be expected. Gen is doing good, easing off the pain killers and has been able to have a couple of visitors and even spend some time in the living room.
So, how are we doing? We are doing pretty good. We've had a 24hour bug of sometime floating through the house. Isabelle had it first, then Olivia, and now I have it. I'm looking forward to being done with it. And, we are all hoping and praying that the baby doesn't get it. Our fridge is full, our freezer is stuffed and our pantry is almost full. Between Gen's mom who's here from Florida for another few days, her Dad who lives 5 minutes away and all our generous church family we are doing good in the food department. Rest is always a premium, and our kids seem to be adjusting okay. They all love the baby. Luc is a little lost right now, he's not getting as much attention as he's used to. Other than that… pretty good!
Would you take a minute and pray for us? Pray that Sarah won't catch this bug. Pray that we manage this time wisely as a family. Pray that we get a van soon. We won't all fit in our Saturn any more…

Congrats you guys!! Praying Sarah will not get the bug. We are in town until the 30th. Jolyane, Louise Groulx’s daughter is getting married on the 29th. Would love to see you all before we leave…but might not be a possibility with all the sickness. Tell Gen we listened to her French CD and loved it.
Talk to you soon, hopefully!
